pH and Carbonate Chemistry Data in One Place

The Philippine Ocean Acidification (PhilOCA) database serves as a centralized hub for pH and carbonate chemistry data, supporting national and regional monitoring efforts.

How to Submit Data

United Nations Sustainable Development Goal indicator 14.3.1 emphasizes the importance of ocean acidification monitoring through pH measurements. As ocean chemistry changes, pH serves as a key environmental indicator of the health of marine ecosystems. As such, our research contributes to that global monitoring effort.

Our work follows the SDG 14.3.1 methodology, which guides how to observe ocean acidification: what parameters to measure, how to measure them, and the best practices recognized by the global ocean acidification community.

It also outlines how to prepare and submit data to the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), so that contributions meet quality standards and can be used in global and regional assessments.
